Latest Update ...
This
update (and work on the other parts of my domain) has been delayed because most of my time has been spent on three
significant events
in my life;
A) The birth of my second child (and second
beautiful daughter) Morgan
Leigh Shields in May (and the 9 months of my wife's pregnancy leading up to
that glorious event).
B) A (work related) nasty bite to my right ring finger by a brown recluse spider (took
about 8 weeks to clear up and I managed to retain full use of the finger in the
end). Eight weeks of very limited use of my right arm, four different antibiotics,
two steroids, some half days at work and having the
wound lanced twice to drain it are the highlights of this subplot in the adventure
I call "life."
If you're looking for a fun time, I would highly advise that it not involve a
brown recluse spider sinking its fangs into any part of your body, let alone a
part of your body that you use to type words on a keyboard with.
C)
House hunting for a larger spread. 3 to 5 bedroom, 2 to 2.5 or 3 full
bath, double car garage, workshop, 1800 plus square feet and plenty of land are
the bare minimum requirements. Color this task ... tedious ... given the
post Katrina market and offerings. The next six to twelve months will
see me homesteading in a larger spread and that's going to probably eat up a lot
of my personal time (what little I have to begin with seeing as how I have one
wife, two daughters and three jobs).
Updated the 1986
TA Diary. I picked up a few toys, odds and ends, and most of the
suspension parts I needed. The correct 16x8 wheels and the P245/50ZR16
size tires will be going on as well in the next week or two.
Some new pictures
of the '86 TA. Work progresses at a steady pace on it and (fingers
crossed), the restoration of the Trans Am should be finished in the next two
months.
I found and
purchased a functional power bulge hood for the TA. I was never a fan of
the flat (fake) multi-vent TA hoods used on the TA from '85 to '92 (and from '85
to '86, the Firebird SE). I once
went with my father to a NASCAR race at the Talladega, AL speedway in 1986 and the pace car
for that race was a solid
black 1986 TA with a 1984 power bulge hood on it. At that moment in time,
I told myself that if I ever owned a black 1986 Trans Am that I would put the
earlier TA hood on it because it just looked so damn right. Well, I kept
my word to myself and now, 21 years later, the early model power bulge hood is
installed on my black '86 TA. It looks great. Find the info and pics in
the update to the TA Diary.
I put up a
completed (as best as I could) new car build sheet for my TA using a copy of the
factory work order and all of the information that have acquired on my car.
Some humorous new pictures
from the road and another entry in The Best of the Small Town Newspaper section. Find them under the Driver's Seat
area.
